Police Investigating Officer-Involved Shooting in Cranston

Cranston Police are investigating an officer-involved shooting on this snowy Saturday night outside Hong Kong Buffet on Cranston Street.

One Cranston police officer was injured when he was struck by a car driven by a fleeing suspect, confirmed Cranston Police Chief Col. Michael J. Wiquist.

The officer fired at the fleeing vehicle several times.

The female suspect has been arrested and was also injured in the incident. Both she and the officer are being treated for non life-threatening injuries, police said.

The car, a Dodge Avenger, was located outside Randall Manor on Mathewson Street, its rear driver’s side window shot out.

Police also reportedly found cocaine at the scene of the hit-and-run, police said.

Police blocked off the parking lot to the restaurant, forcing some customers to sit and wait for the investigation.
