PROVIDENCE, RI — Providence police identified the victims of a double shooting in Providence early Sunday morning that claimed the life of two Massachusetts men. Mario Diaz, 27, of Boston and Kerwins Pimental, 29, of Mattapan, died following the shooting outside Club Fuego.

The shooting happened around 2 a.m. Saturday outside the West Friendship Street club. The two victims were a group of about 10 people from Boston, celebrating a birthday at the club, Providence police said Monday. At some point, a fight broke out between the group and others, police said, though it's unclear at this time if the fight started inside or outside the club.

The shooter went up the street and retrieved a handgun from a parked vehicle, police said, before returning to the club and shooting the two men. One died at the scene and the other was rushed to Rhode Island Hospital, where he later died.
