Republican Rep. Morgan Endorses Independent Trillo For Governor
Morgan told reporters she was endorsing Trillo over Republican Cranston Mayor Allan Fung because, "I know he's a fighter."
WARWICK, RI — Rhode Island's State House Minority Leader is refusing to to back the party's candidate for governor. Joe Trillo who's running as an independent received the endorsement of House Minority Leader Patricia Morgan.
Trillo, the former Republican state representative and Rhode Island campaign chairman for Donald Trump, broke the news on Thursday. Wednesday, Trillo sent an announcement he said, “will change the landscape of this year’s governor’s race.”
"It is truly with great pleasure and honor that Patricia and I can once again join forces with the one mission of helping Rhode Islanders," Trillo said to reporters. "This election presents a chance for real change and hope for all those who have felt lost and disenfranchised by the current administration."

Morgan told reporters she was endorsing Trillo over Republican Cranston Mayor Allan Fung because, “I know (Trillo) he’s a fighter.”
Morgan ran against Fung in the Republican primary and received 40.1 percent of the vote. Cranston Mayor Allan Fung captured the nomination with 56.4 percent of the vote.

Fung and Trillo are running against Democratic incumbent Gov. Gina Raimondo.
