PROVIDENCE, RI — After an astronomical week, there's no sign of relief at the gas pump in Rhode Island. After climbing by about 60 cents in a week and setting a new all-time record, the average price per gallon rose again overnight, setting a new high.

As of Monday, the average price per gallon was $4.17, the highest on record, AAA Northeast said. Overnight, it climbed another seven cents, averaging $4.24 per gallon Tuesday.

High prices aren't expected to go anywhere soon, with the Russian invasion of Ukraine causing turmoil in the international oil market. On Tuesday, President Joe Biden announced a ban on all oil exported from Russia, which could push prices even higher.
