Rhode Island Reports 221 New Coronavirus Cases; 18 Deaths

Rhode Island continues to see a gradual downward trend in the number of reported cases of coronavirus.

PROVIDENCE, RI — Rhode Island's overall downward trend in reported coronavirus cases continued Wednesday. The state's Department of Health reported 221 new cases and 18 additional deaths.

While the day-to-day case numbers jumped slightly from Tuesday to Wednesday, the state continues to show an overall downward trend. Hospitalizations continue to slowly decrease as well. As of Wednesday, there were 269 people in the hospital in Rhode Island. Of these patients, 68 were in intensive care units and 48 were on ventilators.

The number of reported deaths Wednesday was double that of days before: 18 compared to nine.
