Rhode Island Sees Slight Uptick In Coronavirus Cases

The Rhode Island Department of Health reported 102 new cases and 11 deaths.

PROVIDENCE, RI — For the first time in nearly a week, Rhode Island had more than 100 new cases of coronavirus on Thursday. The Rhode Island Department of Health reported 102 new cases and 11 deaths.

The overall daily case numbers continue to decline over time, following the single-day peak of 422 on April 22. However, Thursday marks the first time in five days that daily case numbers have topped 100.

Hospitalizations continue to hold steady in Rhode Island. As of Thursday, 146 people were in the hospital related to COVID-19. Of these, 26 were in an intensive care unit and 16 were on a ventilator.
