Rhode Island's Coronavirus Hospitalizations Reach Two-Month Low

The state dropped below 350 totals hospitalizations for the first time in 2021.

PROVIDENCE, RI โ€” Rhode Island's coronavirus hospitalizations dropped below 350 Monday, the first time that's happened in several months. This is the lowest number the state has reported so far in 2021.

On Monday, the Rhode Island Department of Health reported 347 total coronavirus-related hospitalizations. The last time the number was that low was two months ago on Nov. 16, when there were 56 new hospitalizations and 345 total.

Rhode Island has seen overall improvement in the past few weeks, with the percent positivity rate, number of new hospitalizations and case numbers all holding steady or on the decline. To date, a little more than 59,000 Rhode Islanders have received the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine, and close to 15,000 are fully vaccinated.
