CRANSTON, RI — The Rhode Island Division of Motor Vehicles again extended certain expiration dates, this time through the end of November. Anyone with documents set to expire in March, June or September now have until Nov. 30 to get them renewed.

The department's operations were slashed throughout the height of the coronavirus pandemic in the state, with all satellite offices closed and in-person service at the Cranston headquarters only available by appointment only, for very limited services. Rhode Islanders were encouraged to complete as many transactions as possible online. To help reduce demand, expiration dates for licenses and other documents were repeatedly extended.

In May, the Middletown satellite office reopened, as well as AAA locations around the state. Rhode Islanders are still encouraged to conduct as much DMV business as they can online.
