RI Reports 249 New Coronavirus Cases, 11 Deaths
At this time, 312 people in Rhode Island are in the hospital with the coronavirus, 52 of whom require ventilators to breathe.

PROVIDENCE, RI — The Rhode Island Department of Health reported 249 new cases of the coronavirus Friday and 11 deaths. That brings that state's totals to 10,779 cases and 399 fatalities.
As of Friday, 312 people were hospitalized, with 71 in intensive care units and 52 on ventilators.
The new numbers come on the last day of Rhode Island's stay-at-home order, which will expire on Friday. Starting Saturday, nonessential businesses can start to slowly reopen provided they follow strict guidelines.

Meanwhile, the state continues to focus on nursing homes and other congregate care facilities, which have consistently had the vast majority of the state's coronavirus-related deaths. Data released by the department this week shows that more than one-half of the state's nursing homes have had two or more cases of the virus.
