"Rhode Island is in a good place," Gov. Gina Raimondo said. "People are asking me: 'Are we in a good place?' Yes, we are in a good place."
Since Friday, there have been 18 deaths: seven on Saturday, five on Sunday and six on Monday. One victim was in their 40s, three in their 50s, one in their 60s, two in their 70s, eight in their 80s and three in their 90s. Dr. Nicole Alexander-Scott, the director of the Rhode Island Department of Heath, confirmed the state's first pediatric death late last week, saying only that the victim had a "very significant" underlying condition.
