RI Voters Have Until May 19 To Apply For A Primary Mail Ballot
Local boards of elections must receive applications by that date.

CRANSTON, RI — Rhode Island voters have until Tuesday to submit their applications to vote by mail in the upcoming presidential preference primary on June 2. Secretary of State Nellie Gorbea's office sent out applications to all registered voters ahead of the rescheduled election, which will be primarily held by mail due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Applications must be received by your community's board of elections by Tuesday, not just postmarked by that date. Those sent out day-of will likely not arrive in time. Voters can also drop off their applications by hand, and a list of addresses is included on the back of the application. Before dropping off the application, reach out to the board.
"Voting by mail is safest and most secure way to cast your ballot during this pandemic," Gorbea said. "I strongly encourage all Rhode Islanders to send in their mail ballot applications by this weekend to ensure they are received in time."
