MA Man Attempted To Entice Teen Into Sex Rendezvous In Rhode Island: Feds

He thought he was communicating with a 15-year-old girl but it was actually a state police detective, the U.S. Attorney's Office said.

PROVIDENCE, RI — A Massachusetts man attempted to entice a 15-year-old girl to engage in a Rhode Island sex rendezvous but was arrested when it turned out he had actually been communicating with a state police detective, the U.S. Attorney's Office said.

Richard Lallier, 34, was charged with attempted enticement of a minor to engage in sexual activity, attempted interstate travel for illicit sexual conduct with a minor, and attempted transmission of obscene material to a minor, the U.S. Attorney's Office said in a media release.

For two days earlier this month, Lallier, a resident of Rehoboth, "communicated with a person he believed was a 15-year-old female," but was actually a Rhode Island State Police detective, according to the release.

While "believing he was communicating with the minor, Lallier sent sexually explicit messages, videos of his genitalia, discussed meeting for sexual activity, and traveled to Rhode Island to meet her," the release said.

Lallier was arrested last week by the Rhode Island State Police and FBI "after he arrived at the location where it is alleged he had arranged to meet with the person he believed he had been communicating with," according to the release.
