Sex Offender Caught Watching Porn In Cranston Library: Police

CRANSTON, RI — A registered sex offender was arrested after police said he was caught watching porn in a Cranston library last week.

Kyle Bento, 37, a level two sex offender, was arrested Wednesday and charged with indecent exposure and disorderly conduct.

Police said the arrest came after detectives received a tip that Bento was using a public computer on a regular basis at the Cranston Public Library at 140 Sockanosset Cross Road. According to police, Bento used the computer to view pornographic images of young women and girls. Police said one of the videos he viewed had a girl in it who was underage.

When officers arrested Bento, he was wearing headphones, and they recorded him performing lewd acts on himself while watching a video of two young women in bikinis, police said.

Police said Bento told detectives that "he would never do this again and that he would never come back here." Bento was brought to Cranston Police Headquarters, where he was later arraigned in 3rd District Court. He is scheduled for a violator status hearing on Thursday.
