Shooting On Pleasant Street In Cranston: Cops

CRANSTON, RI — A shooter opened fire from a car on Pleasant Street, police said.

Officers headed to the scene of the shooting shortly after 1 a.m. Wednesday and found spent shell casings in the road, the Cranston Police Department said in a media release.

"Investigators reviewed multiple video recordings from the area, which showed a white sedan in the vicinity prior to the incident, the release said. "The vehicle returned shortly before shots were fired toward a nearby residence and then fled southbound on Pleasant Street prior to officers arriving on scene."

Through the use of license-plate reading cameras and coordination with neighboring law enforcement agencies, police tracked down and recovered the white Sedan in Providence, according to the release.

"Evidence consistent with the reported gunfire was found inside the vehicle," the release said.

"The vehicle had been reported stolen earlier that evening," according to the release. "Investigators believe this was a targeted incident, and there is no indication of an ongoing threat to the general public."

The Cranston police have still increased patrols in the area, according to the release.

"Detectives continue to canvass the neighborhood and review additional video evidence. This
