Spinach Products, Chicken Nuggets, Nut Butters Recalled

A recall has been issued for prepared foods with spinach sold as Whole Foods, Perdue brand Fun Shapes Chicken Breast Nuggets and Thrive Market nut butters. The spinach carries the risk of salmonella contamination, while the nut butters have the potential for listeria contamination. The chicken nuggets contains the undeclared allergen milk.

Whole Foods announced the recall of certain prepared foods following a recall of baby spinach by Satur Farms. The following items are included in Rhode Island:

• Golden Beet & Tangerine Salad
• Locavore Cheese Steak Wrap
• Mediterranean Stuffed Salmon
• Quinoa with Dark Leafy Greens
• Roasted Vegetables Panini
• Salad Spring Berry Power
• Smoked Turkey with Apple & Cheddar Sandwich
• Spinach and Vegetable Quinoa Salad
• Spinach Ravioli Salad with Lemon, Tomato, and Parmesan
• Strawberry Balsamic Quinoa
• Tofu Shawarma Wrap
• Turkey Avocado Sandwich (Turkado Sandwich)
• Turkey with Spinach & Feta Sandwich
• Vegan Spinach Almond Ricotta Pizza

At this time, no illnesses have been reported in connection to the recall. Anyone with the recalled items is encouraged to discard them immediately, and can get a full refund in stores with a valid receipt.

Thrive Market recalled all unexpired lots of Thrive brand nut butters due to concerns of listeria contamination. The following products are included:

• Thrive Market Organic Creamy Almond Butter
• Thrive Market Non-GMO Creamy Almond Butter
• Thrive Market Organic Crunchy Almond Butter
• Thrive Market Non-GMO Crunchy Almond Butter
• Thrive Market Organic Crunchy Peanut Butter
• Thrive Market Organic Creamy Peanut Butter
• Thrive Market Sesame Tahini
• Thrive Market Creamy Cashew Butter
• Thrive Market Organic Coconut Butter
• Thrive Market Sunflower Butter

Purdue has recalled 12 ounce packages of Perdue Fun Shapes Chicken Breast Nuggets due to misbranding and undeclared allergens. The chicken nuggets were produced on January 10, 2019 and have a use by date of March 11, 2019 and lot codes 17009010 – 19009010.

The packages contain milk, a known allergen, which is not declared on the packaging. The company said the issue was caused by the incorrect label applied to the back of the packaging.

Any consumers with the recalled packages are encouraged to throw them away or return them to the place of purchase for a full refund. Purdue customer service can be reached at 1-866-866-3703.
