Uncle Sushi Reopens

The state Department of Health gave the restaurant the green light to open yesterday after a number of code violations identified in an inspection this week were rectified.

Uncle Sushi reopened for business on Friday after correcting a number of health code violations.

The state Department of Health gave the business the green light to reopen after they cleaned the kitchen thoroughly and replaced some tools and equipment, the health department said. An inspector observed the food preparation process Friday night.

The restaurant was after eight people were reported sick after eating at the establishment. A few of those people tested positive for norovirus. Norovirus was also detected in stool samples provided by three employees. An inspection revealed unsanitary conditions in the kitchen including mouse droppings found in some food products and indications that someone had been changing a baby's diapers in the kitchen.
