Local farmers and trades people gathered their food, plants and wares at the Cranston farmers' market at Rhodes on the Pawtuxet on Saturday morning.

The farmers' market had its opening day last Saturday and will be in operation throughout the summer on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon in the Rhodes on the Pawtuxet parking lot in Cranston.

Attending the event was PV's Farm Stand, Palmieri's Bakery, Blue Sky's Flower Farm, Rhode Island Spa Products, Bernie Bieder the Beekeper, Wedgewood Flowers and Pak Express Organic Farm.

Cranston City Council Member Steve Stycos started the farmers' market nine years ago with Peyton Flemming. He said now it pretty much runs itself and that more stands will be coming to the market as the season continues.
