White House Proclamation Signed by Truman Up for Auction in Cranston
The document was one of 30 handed out as gifts to White House employees in 1945.

A rare White House document proclaiming the Nazi surrender in World War II that was given to just 30 employees at the White House in 1945 is up for auction in Cranston.
Dovetail Auction Gallery is set to auction the document, signed by former President Harry Truman, off to the highest budder on Nov. 17.
Originally owned by a White House secretary, the document has been checked out by several experts who confirmed its authenticity, say owners Nick and Melissa Ricci.

The document describes the heroic sacrifices by Allied forces in the battle against the Nazi regime.
It was issued before Japan surrendered, marking the period of time when the epic war still was not over.

The proclamation was sold three years ago by the original owner’s son.
