Wild Harvest Flour Recalled For E. Coli Risk

Five-pound bags of the flour with a "best by" date of January 8, 2020 are included in the recall.

Check your pantries, Rhode Islanders: UNFI has issued a recall for one lot of Wild Harvest Organic Flour. The five-pound bags of all-purpose flour is potentially tainted with E. coli.

The recalled bags of flour have a "best if used by" date of Jan 8, 2020 and the UPC code 711535509158.

E. coli can cause serious, sometimes life-threatening infections, especially in babies, the elderly, pregnant women and anyone with a weakened immune system. The most common symptoms are diarrhea, cramping, nausea and vomiting, which usually arrive three to four days after eating the contaminated food. The illness will usually last about a week, the Rhode Island Department of Health said, and most people recover without needing treatment.

So far, no illnesses have been confirmed in connection with the recall.

Anyone with the contaminated flour is urged to throw it out immediately. Call the company directly at 855-423-2630 with any questions.
