Winter Concert Series Comes to the Library

Atwater and Donnelly perform a free concert on Dec. 14.

CRANSTON, RI — The Winter Concert Series is coming back to the Cranston Public Library, according to spokeswoman Katy Dorchies.

"Supported by the generosity of Dave and the late Judy Pelkey, this free concert series will feature the popular local music duo Atwater-Donnelly, as well as the Renaissance V Brass Quintet, and Jon Wiening," she said.

The Renaissance V Brass Quintet brings music educators Al Testa, Bob Izzo, Colin Kane, James Suchodolski, Gerry Heroux, Nicole Denton and Tyler Barboza together. All Rhode Islanders, they play "music that spans hundreds of years," she said. Expect two trumpets, trombone, tuba and French horn.

Aubrey Atwater and Elwood Donnelly, the award-winning, internationally acclaimed duo, "will present delightful programs of traditional American and Celtic folk songs and percussive dance," she said.

Rhode Island classical guitarist Jon Wiening returns to the William Hall Library performing Bloom Suite by New Jersey composer Elliot Cole, in addition to pieces by Barrios, Bach, Scarlatti, and Tárrega.

The Renaissance V Brass Quintet: Saturday, Dec. 3 at 2 p.m.

Atwater & Donnelly, Wednesday, Dec. 14 at 7 p.m.

Jon Wiening, Saturday, Dec. 17 at 2 p.m.
