• Charlotte Dumas Is Latest Owner of Boston Post Cane (eastgreenwichnews.com) — East Greenwich is celebrating 101-year-old Charlotte Dumas as its oldest resident and newest holder of the historic Boston Post Cane, recognizing her decades-long connection to the town. A Melrose Street native, Dumas has returned to live in her family home, stays active at Swift Community Center, and was grand marshal of the 2022 Veterans Day Parade, embodying the town's sense of service and community.
• Cyril Neville Brings New Orleans Groove to the Grateful Dead Songbook on September Tour (gratefulweb.com) — Cyril Neville is bringing his New Orleans-infused take on Grateful Dead songs to East Greenwich on September 13, with a show at the Greenwich Odeum. The tour reimagines Dead classics with funk, soul, blues, and deep New Orleans rhythms, giving local music fans a rare chance to hear a Grammy-winning legend interpret the band's catalog live.
• See the 54 RI students named National Merit semifinalists − and their schools (providencejournal.com) — Several East Greenwich High School seniors have been named National Merit Scholarship semifinalists, putting local students in the running for prestigious awards and college money. They're among 54 Rhode Island semifinalists and over 16,000 nationwide who advanced based on top PSAT scores and now must complete detailed applications, essays, and confirmatory SAT or ACT scores to compete for scholarships next spring.
