The goal for this day is to raise $12,000 for BBBSOS’ Mission: providing mentors to the youth of Rhode Island who will motivate and empower them to make positive decisions, improve academic results, avoid risky behaviors and grow in a way that will positively impact our community. We are thrilled to announce that all donations to the Scholarship Fund will be matched – dollar for dollar up to $12,000 - by our Founding Mother, Dr. Dorothy Pieniadz, in celebration of #GivingTuesday. The BBBSOS Scholarship Fund is used to provide scholarships for our Little Brothers and Sisters who have successfully completed high school and have been accepted into college.

“Giving Tuesday brings awareness to the true meaning of the holiday season” said Katje Afonseca, Director of Development at BBBSOS. “It’s a day to celebrate the work that charity organizations do around the country and it’s a great day for Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Ocean State to raise funds that are critical for our mentoring programming.”
