Boys Tennis Team Earns Big Win Over South Kingstown

East Greenwich won the match 4-3; South Kingstown hadn't lost a regular season match since 2011.

"Huge win yesterday." Those words from EG Boys Tennis coach Marisa Salvadore after the team's win over South Kingstown 4-3 Tuesday summed it up.

The East Greenwich squad has been getting better with each passing year – winning the D-II state championship two years ago and coming in second in D-II last year. They moved up to Division I this season for the first time in several yeasr, so beating the school that's held the top spot in D-I Boys Tennis for the past 14 years was sweet indeed for the Avengers.

According to the Providence Journal, South Kingstown hadn't lost a match in regular season play since 2011.

"We pulled off a challenging one. And honestly but for 1 and 4 singles turning it around, we could have been a loss at 2-5," she said.
