Business Up at Lina Piccolina after Main St. Move

Teresa Coletta loves her new location at 111 Main St.

Lina Piccolina Children’s Clothier’s owner Teresa Coletta said she loves her new location at 111 Main St.

“It’s larger, nicer, an open layout,” she said in an interview. ”It’s much more visible, naturally, and a lot more people love the shop. There’s nothing like it in the area.”

And when she says a lot more people love the shop, Coletta isn’t kidding. She said that business has increased significantly since the recent move from 58 Main St., where she occupied a ground floor space that was broken up into several rooms. Though cozy and jammed with an array of fine clothing and toys, for Coletta, it was a challenging place to do business, mainly because people didn’t know it was there.

Today, with her bright white storefront, inviting window displays and close proximity to nearby restaurants, coffee shops and Town Hall, her store that caters to children -- and their parents searching for quality clothes and toys -- is hard to miss.

“It’s a wonderful space,” Coletta said. “It’s liberating because it’s so open and all in one room, so at any time, I can converse with customers.”

Children love it too, thanks in part to the kitchen and tea set area she has set up, which draws kids to play.

With the move, Coletta said she’s expanded her roster of toys for sale. And you can still find some of the highest-quality lightly-used clothing for sale in addition to new items. Though she sells things on consignment, Coletta has strict standards and you’d be hard pressed to find anything for sale there that doesn’t look and feel brand new.

“Everything is impeccable. I scrub all the shoes if they’ve been pre-owned. Everything is like new.”

The pants are starched, the shirts are ironed and only brands with lasting appeal and durability make the cut, Colette said. Though she does sell things on consignment, she won’t take just anything. Think Hanna Andersson, not Circo.
