East Greenwich voters could soon be heading back to the polls for a special election after a School Committee member announced that he will resign at the end of September.
Clark Smith, a Republican member of the committee, will step down from elective office on Sept. 28 because he accepted a job out of state, according to a new release from the superintendent’s office.
“Mr. Smith has been an invaluable member of the school committee for the past three years, and we are grateful for his service to the students of the East Greenwich Public Schools,” said Superintendent Victor Mercurio. “We wish Mr. Smith well in all of his future endeavors.”
