Cole Middle School Pairs Up with Challenged Athletes Foundation

Cole Middle School is collecting donations for the Challenged Athletes Foundations.

We are a group of eighth graders at Cole Middle School that are teaming up with CAF (Challenged Athletes Foundation) to help people with physical challenges. We are run by Mrs. O’Neill who has a personal experience working with CAF. Her son, Braylon, was born without tibia and fibula bones in his legs. He is now 7 years old and CAF has given him the opportunity to play as an active kid. Our goal as a group is to raise $5,000 to help kids like Braylon and to challenge the way people perceive disabilities.

CAF is a foundation that challenges the way people think about physical differences and donates prosthetics and technology to help people with physical challenges perform in sports. By volunteering and fundraising, we can raise money to help kids that filled out applications to CAF get the support and equipment they need to participate in all different kinds of sports.

The mission statement of CAF says: ¨It is the mission of the Challenged Athletes Foundation to provide opportunities and support to people with physical challenges so they can pursue active lifestyles through physical fitness and competitive athletics. The Challenged Athletes Foundation believes that involvement in sports at any level increases self-esteem, encourages independence and enhances quality of life.” This means that CAF wants to help people with physical disabilities have the same amount of opportunity as people without. We chose to get involved when we saw the amazing opportunities that all of the children with physical differences had access to, and we believe that all of the kids should receive this. Please consider joining or donating to help make a difference in the lives of children.
