Cops Pick Up Trash after Car Leaves Trail of Busted Bins
Someone drove into trash and recycling bins on Howland and Middle Roads, forcing police to pick up the mess.

A few East Greenwich police officers were relegated to garbage duty on Sept. 8 after someone drove into and knocked over a number of trash and recycling bins on Howland and Middle Roads early in the morning hours.
Police said they were unable to track down the suspect, but they did spend a bit of time picking up glass and garbage from the yards and street along the route.
Police said they got a call reporting a car knocking over garbage cans in the Cedar Rock Meadows Plat at around 1:30 a.m. and officers found toppled bins in front of 80, 200 and 241 Howland Road and 300 and 375 Middle Road.

At 330 Howland Road, police said they found a bin that appeared to have been run over and dragged for about 25 feet, causing damage to the bin.
A check of the area turned up no suspects, so police went back to the mess and cleaned it up.

One recycling bin suffered a dent from being struck by a car. Other bins were damaged from being flipped over, but not necessarily from being struck by a car.
Police canvassed the area a second time to look for any other damaged bins to add to their report.
