EAST GREENWICH, RI — East Greenwich will have one in-person voting location for the June 2 presidential primary election. The Swift Community Center on Peirce Street will be the only polling location in a one-time consolidation of locations due to the new coronavirus health emergency.

The Board of Canvassers said the election is being promoted as predominantly a mail-in ballot election. The RI Secretary of State has begun mailing out ballots to all registered voters who have not requested them, regardless of party affiliation. Those who would like to vote, however, are encouraged to request a mail-in ballot.

The Peirce Street location will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. The East Greenwich Board of Canvassers ask that anyone with questions contact 886-8603.

Gov. Gina Raimondo announced the postponement of the primary from April 28 due to fears that significant in-person voting would add to community spread of the virus.

The presidential primary will be largely ceremonial in the state with President Donald Trump and former Vice President Joe Biden the presumptive nominees for each party.
