East Greenwich Man Sentenced for Second Degree Child Molestation
George Tabora, 54, of East Greenwich, RI, was sentenced Tuesday to 25 years with 15 years to serve for molesting a young boy, the AG said.

EAST GREENWICH, RI — An East Greenwich man was sentenced Tuesday to 25 years in prison, 15 to serve, for molesting a young boy, 7 and 8 years old at the time, Atty. Gen. Peter Kilmartin's office said. George Tabora, 54, of East Greenwich, RI, was found guilty of second degree child molestation in January. Superior Court Justice Brian P. Stern also ordered Tabora to have no contact with the victim, to undergo sex offender counseling and to register as a sex offender when he's released from the Adult Correctional Institutions. He will be on probation for 10 years.
The crime came to light because the boy's mother suspected Tabora, who knew them, had molested her son. She contacted the Blackstone Valley Advocacy Center for help, according to the state Attorney General's Office. A case of possible abuse was reported to the Department of Children Youth and Families.
"In the course of the investigation, the victim was examined by physicians at the Aubin Child Protection Center at Hasbro Children’s Hospital and subsequently started mental health counseling," Kilmartin's office said. The victim "lived in fear the defendant was going to hurt him," the AG's office said. He finally disclosed the molestation to his counselor.

"After the disclosure, the victim was brought to the Children’s Advocacy Center at Day One for a formal, recorded interview. The defendant was charged and arrested a short time after," Kilmartin's office said.
Tabora was found guilty in January 2017 by a Kent County Superior Court jury of two counts of second degree child molestation.
