In East Greenwich, March Planned for Racial Justice
In a display of unity, the march is for equality and to respond to hateful white supremacist flyers distributed in town earlier this year.

A group of East Greenwich residents along with fellow Rhode Islanders are coming together on an upcoming Sunday to stand together and march for justice for all people.
The march and gathering is planned for Sept. 20 by The White Noise Collective, people of faith and others across East Greenwich and Rhode Island.
The walk is to show support and demand racial justice for all as well as to respond to racial injustice and racism in general.

It’s also a way for residents who were deeply troubled by the distribution of hateful white supremacist flyers in East Greenwich earlier this year to counter that hate with the power of public demonstration and mutual love and respect.
“We are planning the walk to raise consciousness, invite engagement, and support the larger Black Lives Matter movement. We hope to invite conversation around white privilege, racial bias and systemic racism; and to talk about how white people in particular can address racial inequities, walking and working alongside our brothers and sisters who bear the brunt of racism every day,” a news release stated.

The gathering begins at 12:30 p.m. at Westminster Unitarian Church at 119 Kenyon Ave. and from there, after public remarks, the march will walk down Division Street to Main Street then down 1st Ave. wrapping up back at Westimster Church where there will be more speakers.
The route is 1.89 miles.
