EGHS Science Olympiad Team Takes 4th In State Competition
The 17-member team had to be prepared for everything from astronomy and physiology to forestry and invasive species.

East Greenwich High School placed fourth in the Rhode Island Science Olympiad held on April 20 at Rhode Island College. The 17-member team competed against both public and private high schools from all over Rhode Island.
Participants had studied for the past couple of months, preparing for the competitive and timed events. Students competed in the following events: Anatomy and Physiology, Astronomy, Boomilever, Chemistry Lab, Circuit Lab, Designer Genes, Disease Detectives, Dynamic Planet, Elastic Launch Glider, Experimental Design, Fermi Questions, Forensics, Forestry, Gravity Vehicle, Remote Sensing, Robot Arm, Rocks and Minerals, Thermodynamics, Water Quality, Write It Do It, and Invasive Species.
Through dedication and lots of preparation, the students finished strong in every category. East Greenwich High School had an overall team score of 135. Although they didn’t take first place, they are proud of their achievement and vow to take that title next year.

The 2012-2012 EGHS Science Olympiad team included Christina Lusi, Caitlyn Mason, Michael McWeeney, Jane Chung, Chris Luo, Allie Marcus, Heather Shen, Michelle Xiong, Thomas Basso, Angela He, Wei Li, Mingyi Wu, Jesse Zhan, Romina Garakani, Julian Wu, Katharine Yan, and Zack Johnson. The team is advised by EGHS science teacher Frank Lenox.
