EG's Arts on Main Event Expands This Year; Artists Needed to Show and Sell Work
Organizers hope to beef up the popular event this year by inviting artists to come and show and sell their work.
As the popular ”Arts on Main” event continues to expand, organizers have realized that the time has come to make the event even bigger and better.
In years past, the event has been contained to Courthouse Lane and Pierce Street around Town Hall.
But, according to East Greenwich Chamber of Commerce Director Steve Lombardi, “There has been so much support for this event from the community in the past, it seemed only natural to build upon what the people liked and make it bigger and better.”

The plan this year is to showcase local artists who will have a chance to sell their art in a street fair type atmosphere. The popular chalk competition on Courthouse Lane and Pierce Street will remain.
“We are really excited to create this opportunity for local artists to display their paintings, drawings, sculptures and photography while giving the community a fantastic event to enjoy these amazing creations,” said David-Max Owner and Main Street Merchants Committee Chair Courtney Grady-Calcione.

To pull the event off, the chamber needs a strong showing. It won’t be too difficult since there is no cost for artists to particpate.
if you’re interested in showing off your work (and maybe making a few bucks) then contact the EG Chamber at 401-885-0020 or stop by their 580 Main Street office between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.
First preference will be given to applicants who can provide examples of their work to determine if the applicants work is art or craft. Applications need to be submitted to the Chamber no later than April 17. No artists are allowed to participate without written approval from the Chamber.
Arts on Main will take place on Main Street May 9 from noon to 4 p.m. The Arts on Main Stroll is then followed by the “Dogs on Main Stroll” June 25 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Then the “Music on Main Stroll” comes July 23. The summer strolls then finish with the Taste of EG Stroll on August 20 from.
