EG's Malm to Receive Medical Degree from Johns Hopkins

Ian James Malm, of East Greenwich, is among 115 women and men from 28 states and one foreign country who will be awarded doctor of medicine degrees at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine's commencement exercises on Thursday, May 22.

The class is the 199th to graduate since the Baltimore, Md., School of Medicine opened in 1893.

Johns Hopkins is among the most selective medical schools in the nation with 4,552 applications for 166 places for the freshman class this fall.

Members of this year's graduating class will continue training at 66 hospitals and medical institutions in 21 states.

Malm will intern at Johns Hopkins Hospital in otolaryngology — head and neck surgery.

Malm is the son of James and Paula Malm of East Greenwich.
