Heavyweight Writers Coming to EG for "An Evening With Authors"

Rhode Island’s Robin Kall, otherwise known as the “Fairy Bookmother,” is a woman worth paying attention to if you like books.

Her blog, Reading with Robin, will have you lead-footing it to the local bookstore after a brief perusal. And fans tune in to her weekly radio show from 7 to 8 a.m. on WHJJ 920 AM to hear about the latest novels and interviews with authors.

And in October in East Greenwich, Reading with Robin is hosting “An Evening with Authors,” featuring New York Times bestselling author Susan Jane Gilman, whose debut novel “The Ice Cream Queen of Orchard Street” has earned accolades; John Searles, the winner of this year’s American Library Association Alex Award for ”Help for the Haunted” and Dani Shapiro, the bestselling author of “Still Writing.”

The event will be held on Oct. 8 at Poliquin Group at 1598 South County Trail.

General admission is from 7 to 9:30 p.m. with a 6:30 p.m. registration. Tickets are $30.

There is a VIP reception from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. with tickets for $75. That includes general admission.

All proceeds from the event will benefit Love, Carol Foundation, which supports breast cancer awareness and education.

This year’s recipient will be The American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk.

In an e-mail, Kall said she’s excited to have found “fabulous space for hosting this year’s RI Lit Event of the Season.”

Expect a lively roundtable discussion, refreshments and a chance to meet the writers and get signed copies of their latest works.
