“The Council has kept property tax increases low, we have new, three year contracts with all our municipal unions, and are state leaders in funding employee pension and benefit accounts. We’ve improved our already excellent educational and public safety services and introduced innovations in information technology, human services, public works, planning, and recreation. Going forward I will work to enhance our historic district, Main Street and waterfront, and maintain infrastructure throughout town, especially roads, open space, and emergency vehicles. To accomplish these goals on a tight budget we must develop new sources of revenue, keep borrowing costs low and control the town’s annual expenses.”
Over the coming months, Schwager will be out in the community, participating in political events, knocking on doors and talking with residents to get their opinions and to answer questions about our town government. Says Schwager, “I’m dedicated to this community and will work hard as a member of the Town Council to stand up for our families, schools and businesses.”
