She is also survived by Frank’s two sons who loved her like their own, Michael Notchick and Sonny Notchick. Dotty was an important part of the lives of so many..her nieces and nephews in the Card family and the Duncan family...David, Peter, Paul,Jeanne, and Nicole Card and Anita and Billy Duncan.
Dotty’s family and the Matteson family of Frenchtown were well known for the 4th of July celebrations at the Matteson place. Dotty was a war bride originally to Wes McCullough of Texas who passed away in recent years. During that marriage she had John and Judi and lived for the most part in Texas until John was 6 and Judi 3 years old.
Upon her return to Rhode Island she was divorced and subsequently married Vic Lorenson of East Greenwich. During that marriage she added Victor Jr, James, Richard, and Niles to the family. She worked several jobs over the years but the one she loved the most was her work as Barkeep at the Hillside Lounge.
Our mother had many friends, cousins, nieces, nephews, from all over the state who would come to the many family gatherings at the Mattesons and the Turgeons and the Lorenson homestead on Moosehorn Road. She grew up in the United Methodist Church in East Greenwich where generations of our family attended, were baptised, confirmed, married, and laid to rest. A true New Englander she taught us to be stoic and tough as nails but to be humble when we needed to be.
She will truly be missed by us all. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 11:30AM at St. Francis de Sales Church, School St., North Kingstown. Calling hours: Thursday 5-7PM at the Hill Funeral Home, 822 Main St., East Greenwich. After that she will be returned to Florida for a graveside service at her home church in Crescent City, FL, St. John The Baptist Catholic Church. All are invited to come to Hill Funeral home for one final time with Dotty.
