Pair Charged for Allegedly Slashing Tires After January House Party in East Greenwich

Police said the two men were asked to leave the Kent Drive house party and slashed the tires of seven vehicles in retaliation.

East Greenwich police have charged two men for allegedly slashing the tires of seven cars after they were asked to leave a Kent Drive house party in January.

Police said Alex G. Erinakes, 23, of 11 Pricewood Drive, East Greenwich; and Stephen E. Jezewski, 24, of 100 Sand Hill Drive, North Kingstown, were both charged with vandalism earlier this month after they turned themselves in to police following a thorough investigation that began the night of the alleged tire slashings.

Police said they were dispatched to 35 Kent Drive on Jan. 17 for a report of a loud house party that was disturbing the neighbors. Police broke up the party and as party goers went to their cars, several noticed their tires had been slashed and told officers at the scene.

Police found Jezewski near the damaged cars. Several party goers pointed him out as someone possibly involved because he had been asked to leave along with Erinakes.

Police said Jezewski was carrying a flip knife along with a small jar with some marijuana. He was transported to police headquarters on the marijuana charge.

Over the next few weeks, detectives interviewed numerous party goers and potential witnesses and concluded that both Jezewski and Erinakes slashed the tires of seven vehicles after they left the house, slamming the door behind them on their way out, causing damage to the door frame.

Erinakes reportedly admitted to slashing the tires to one vehicle when he responded to police headquarters for questioning on Jan. 30, according to a police report.

Police obtained signed arrest warrants on March 31 and both turned themselves in to police in early April. Both men were released on personal recognizance after pleading innocent at their respective arraignments. Erinakes is due to appear in court on on April 24 for a pretrial conference. Jezewski is due to appear in court on May 8 for a pretrial conference.
