Police Release Pics of Dave's Marketplace Phony Bill Passers
The two suspects each passed a fake $100 bill at the East Greenwich supermarket.
East Greenwich police have released images of two men who they say passed fake $100 bills at the Dave’s Marketplace on Division Street on Sunday.
The men walked in within 20 seconds of each other, police said, and each went to a different checkout line to make a small purchase and collect the change.
Both men arrived and left in a late model light-colored SUV with luggage racks.

Police believe there was another person in the SUV waiting in the parking lot.
Both of the $100 bills shared the same serial number.
One bought two energy drinks and got $95.27 change. Another bought a pound of strawberries and got $97.50 in change.
One of the cashiers reportedly held one of the bills to the light and thought it was real. It was only when they were tested in the back office that they were revealed as fakes, which indicates that counterfeiters have figured out how to make the bills appear legitimately watermarked.
