Police Seek ID of Jewelry Thieves

Two men reportedly stole thousands of dollars in diamond rings from Wood Jewelers in EG recently.

East Greenwich Police are asking the public for help identifying two men who stole $11,000 worth of diamond rings from Wood Jewelers recently.

Police said the men walked into the store and one of the suspects ordered an item to be picked up later.

He returned a short time later and while the clerk was distracted, grabbed a display with four diamond rings.

Police said before stealing the items, he had told the clerk that he was waiting for his driver “Tom Farrell” to bring cash.

The second suspect did not enter the store but sat on a chair just outside.

The first suspect is described as white, between 45- and 55-years-old and balding. He was wearing a blue plaid shirt and had a soft cast on his right foot. He told the clerk that his name was Steve and just recently had foot surgery at Miriam Hospital.

The second suspect is described as white and in his 50s.

Police believe the two may be involved in similar thefts around the area.
