Presented by:
Vanessa Weiner, Executive Director of ResilientKids
Across the country, hiring managers are looking more at EQ than IQ, but those qualities aren’t always being explicitly taught in schools today. Vanessa Weiner will describe how empathy, listening, stress management, and conflict resolution (to name a few) are foundational skills necessary for our students’ success. Come learn how valuable these ’soft’ skills really are, how mindfulness can play a role in this skill development, and what you can do to nurture these qualities in yourself and your children.
With a practice that started in adolescence, Vanessa Weiner is passionate about sharing mindfulness and yoga with children of all ages. She founded the non-profit, ResilientKids, to offer an integrated, school-day curriculum designed to work with students throughout the school year, building character, as well as social and emotional intelligence to support academic achievement. This program is the first of its kind in RI, and currently serves 2,500 students each week in grades K-12.
