Saving Reggie: One Dog's Journey for a Family

Reggie has been waiting for a home for 9 months, and her options are running out. Please help Reggie find a forever home for the holidays.

Reggie was surrendered to the East Greenwich Animal Protection League on a cold day last winter. She was pregnant and her owner was no longer able to care for her. She gave birth to six healthy puppies on St. Patrick’s Day and saw them all off to loving homes. Then it was finally Reggie’s turn to find a home. It should have been simple; Reggie is a fantastic dog. At just two years old, Reggie has a lifetime of love to give. She adores people and would make the perfect combination of energetic exercise partner and cuddly couch buddy. She is house trained, crate trained, spayed and UTD on shots. She has had some training and is smart and eager to continue learning and pleasing her human friends.

But, sadly, Reggie hasn’t gotten her happy ending. Reggie does not like other animals, which has made finding the right home for her a challenge. She has won the hearts of her foster family, but they have three other pets and can’t make Reggie a permanent addition to their home. She completed a six-week training program but her prey drive is just too strong to make it safe for her to live with other pets. Reggie hates being at the shelter and is scared and stressed in boarding around other animals, and her fosters cannot continue to shuffle their own pets around much longer. Without a forever home soon, there is simply no place left for Reggie.

Her foster family, EGAPL volunteers and everyone else who has been touched by Reggie’s incredible, loving spirit are putting out a plea for someone to please give this beautiful girl a chance. She has been through so much in her short life and is still patiently hoping for the love and stability of a family of her own. We know the right person IS out there somewhere for this special girl, but time is running out. If you might be that person, please email KaileyFabiano@yahoo.com for an adoption application or with questions or contact Tammy from EGAPL at onlygirlx33@aol.com.
