School Committee Appoints New Hanaford Principal
Beth Cauley comes to East Greenwich from a teaching position in Pawtucket
The School Committee appointed Beth Cauley as the new principal for Hanaford Elementary School during its meeting Tuesday night. Cauley taught elementary school in Pawtucket for 12 years. This will be her first time serving as principal. The School Committee gave her a three-year contract.
Cauley received a master's of education in administration from Providence College. According to the PC website, that program is designed to equip teachers with the skills necessary to become a school administrator.
As of Tuesday evening, Cauley had yet to set foot in her new school, but she planned to be there on Wednesday to meet her secretary and tour the school.

The former principal of Hanaford for the past three years, Christine Uhrin, will return to the classroom this fall. She had been serving on a yearly basis since she was named principal in 2008. Before that, Uhrin was a sixth grade teacher at Eldredge School. Because she never officially relinquished her teaching position, she was able to request a return to the classroom. She will be teaching fifth grade at Eldredge.
