Summer Arts & Festival Organization Announces Call for Entry Due 4/30 - Musicians Invited to Compete for “Race to the Stage”
The EG SAFO invites musicians to compete in the 2017 Race to the Stage. Winners will perform at the Summer's End Concert on September 1.

Is your band a little bit country? Rock and Roll? Classical or jazz? Or are you a solo performer looking for an exciting new venue? Regardless of your musical genre, the East Greenwich Summer Arts & Festival Organization (SAFO) invites musicians to compete in the 2017 Race to the Stage. Winners will earn the distinction of performing in front of thousands at the Summer’s End Concert on September 1, 2017 at Eldredge Field.
“We are excited to be able to provide the Summer's End stage for local musicians,” said Phil Nutting, President at SAFO. “Our mission is promoting music and the arts in East Greenwich, and part of that mission is providing talented musicians with an opportunity to share their work.”

Interested participants should submit a video of themselves or their band no later than April 30, 2017 to the Summer’s End Organization at http://egsummersend.org/race-to-the-stage/. (Individuals under the age of 18 must present the SAFO Board with parental permission.) Then, the winning finalists will be chosen to compete at the Odeum Theatre on May 7 in front of an expert panel of judges who will select three acts. These three acts win the right to perform in September at the Summer’s End Concert.
The judging panel includes Katie Kleyla of the New Providence Big Band and Eat Drink RI, LLC; Dana Wronski, local singer & song writer, and song writer for Destiny Africa Children’s Choir, Uganda; and Megan Catelli, music teacher at Cole Middle School, East Greenwich. Together, they bring more than 30 years of musical experience to the competition.

“SAFO has a proud history of over 20 years of bringing the arts to East Greenwich,” said Nutting. “We think this open audition process will help us continue and build on that tradition and, also provide another opportunity for great musicians to play in our community apart from our main Summer's End event.”
About SAFO
The East Greenwich Summer’s End concert is brought to you by the Summer Arts & Festival Organization, a 501(c)(3)non-profit organization dedicated to bringing music and the arts to the East Greenwich community since 1996. SAFO was started by a small group of East Greenwich residents who thought that it would be a great idea to celebrate summer’s end in East Greenwich with an event that would bring our community together to enjoy one last event before heading back to school and work in the autumn. Summer’s End is attended by thousands of East Greenwich residents each year, and it has truly become a signature event for the town. In addition to the annual concert, SAFO sponsors education and enrichment activities in art and music throughout the year including scholarships and other programs that bring art and music to members of our community.
