A "Sweet" Hobby - Beekeeping in Rhode Island
The Friends of the East Greenwich Free Library, and the Cindy Wood Garden Club will present a special program on Saturday, May 21st.
East Greenwich, RI: The Friends of the East Greenwich Free Library, and the Cindy Wood Garden Club will present a special program "A Sweet Hobby - Beekeeping in Rhode Island" on Saturday, May 21st at 1:00pm at the East Greenwich Free Library. The program will feature a hobbyist's overview of honeybees' life cycle, installing bees, collecting swarms and harvesting the "sweet stuff", HONEY! The lecture will feature Frank Woods, who is a medical lab manager by day, and has been a hobbyist beekeeper in his spare time for over 7 years. His two hives in his home garden in Warwick produce a thick, richly flavored honey with a minimum amount of attention. Frank will explain what drew him to beekeeping, how to get started in this hobby and tips for success. He will show the equipment used and offer tastes of his honey from last year's crop. Frank is a member of the Rhode Island Beekeeper's Association. The event is free an open to the public, refreshments will be available during the presentation. The Friends of East Greenwich Free Library are an all-volunteer organization dedicated to supporting and enhancing library services.
