Thanks to Spirited Student-Athletes, EGHS Lands $500 Physical Education Grant

East Greenwich High School was selected as one of 10 Rhode Island schools to receive a $500 grant from Tufts Health Plan to support school physical education programs.

After participating in the 6th Annual Tufts Health Plan High School Inspirational 3K, a race day feature of the Annual CVS Health Downtown 5K held in September, 33 Rhode Island high school teams became eligible to win a $500 grant from Tufts Health Plan. At an awards ceremony last month, Tufts Health Plan announced East Greenwich High School was selected as one of 10 grant recipients.

As part of the Tufts Health Plan High School Inspirational 3K, high school teams throughout the state competed in a spirited costume contest prior to racing through downtown Providence. The East Greenwich High School Girls Field Hockey Team embraced Dunkin’ Donuts themed costumes, and the East Greenwich High School Girls Cross Country Team embraced tourist-themed costumes for the Inspirational 3K, just two of many creative themes showcased throughout the event.

The Tufts Health Plan grant recipients announced at the awards ceremony include Barrington High School, Burrillville High School, Chariho High School, Cranston West High School, Cumberland High School, East Greenwich High School, North Kingstown High School, Toll Gate High School, Tolman High School and Woonsocket High School.
