Turning Art into Crime Science - Composite Sketch Demonstration
The Friends of the East Greenwich Free Library will host Linda Eastman on Thursday February 11th at 6:30pm for composite sketch demo!

East Greenwich, RI: Ever wonder how artists bring an eye witness's accounts to life with a simple charcoal sketch? The Friends of the East Greenwich Free Library will host Linda Eastman on Thursday February 11th at 6:30pm to demonstrate how she creates a composite art sketch of criminals to aid in serious crime investigations.
The presentation will be interactive, and include the creation of a "real" composite sketch of a volunteer “suspect” from the audience. While Linda is out of the room, the volunteer will “commit a crime” before the audience, and upon her return, the audience will be asked to provide a description. The “suspect” will return 30 - 40 minutes later for the result reveal. It will be a fun and educational demonstration for all!
Police Composite Art is making a sketch of a suspect in a crime from a description from the witness(es). This is usually done when no video or photographic evidence is available. Sometimes a photo is enhanced or “aged” to better portray the current likeness of a suspect or missing person. A display of actual composites done for real crimes, with suspect photos who were later apprehended, will also be shared. Linda Eastman is a retired Captain of the Warwick Police Department. She served for 2 years (2013-2015) as President of the East Greenwich Art Club. She is currently on the Board of Directors for the Warwick Police Departments Explorer Youth and the East Greenwich Art Club. Captain Eastman made over a hundred composite sketches for police departments and Federal agencies throughout RI, in her 30 years with law enforcement. She continues to be available for sketches and has helped apprehend several suspects even in retirement.
