East Providence, RI – The Bay View Academy Upper School Dance Team, under the direction of Bay View alumnae from the class of 2011, Anne Conley (Bristol, RI) and Nicole Duhaime (Swansea, MA), rounded out an award winning season at the Step Up 2 Dance competition at Rhode Island College this past weekend. The team won a gold medal and a special award for modern dance excellence. Earlier in March, they competed at the UDA Dance Championships in Westfield, MA, winning first in both the jazz and hip hop divisions. They also competed at the Leap! Dance Competition in Lowell, MA, at which they won first place overall in the senior division for their hip hop routine. Coaches Anne and Nicole provide the choreography for the Dance Team’s award winning routines.

A Bay View Middle School student, Brooke Mogavero (Barrington, RI), who dances for Rosemary’s School of Dance Education (Warren studio), also met with success at the Step Up 2 Dance Competition, earning a platinum award and the overall high score among junior teen (age 11-14) soloists. Brooke’s lyrical routine was choreographed by Bay View alumna, Bethany Medeiros Couto (class of 1999), who is co-owner and co-artistic director of Rosemary’s School of Dance Education.
