East Providence, RI – This week, twelve Bay View Academy Friends of Mercy students went out into the community to make new friends with the Sisters of Mercy residing at Franklin Court Assisted Living Residence in Bristol, RI. Friends of Mercy is a Bay View Lower School program which enhances the awareness of the Mercy tradition among its members. It also promotes personal and spiritual development, leading students towards the service of others. Members of Friends of Mercy attend monthly meetings, pray together and perform acts of service within the school as well as in the broader community.
In honor of National Catholic Sisters week, the girls visited Franklin Court Assisted Living and prepared cards of gratitude and love for each Sister residing there. They also spent time with one of the student’s great aunt, who also lives at Franklin Court. An age span of 10 years old to 93 years old was no obstacle for lively discussion, fun and newfound friendships.
