BAY VIEW ACADEMY STUDENTS “COLOR THE WORLD” IN SUPPORT OF NICARAGUANS IN NEED

East Providence, RI –  The Bay View Academy Spanish Club recently donated $880.00 to the Pulsera Project, a non-profit organization that connects youth in the United States to youth, teens and artists in Nicaragua in order to “create sustainable jobs, empower Nicaraguan communities, and provide engaging educational programs both in the US and Nicaragua,” (www.pulseraproject.org).

Pulseras are hand-woven bracelets that young artisans make in Nicaragua. When a school agrees to do a pulsera sale, a supply of pulseras are sent to the school and all of the proceeds, plus the remaining bracelets, are sent back to the Pulsera Project. In one week the Bay View Spanish club sold 161 bracelets as well as some hand-woven bags to raise a total of $880.00.

In an email from the Co-Founder of the Pulsera Project, Chris Howell, to one of Bay View’s Spanish Club moderators, Chris says, “…congratulations on your Pulsera sale! As you can imagine, $880 represents enormous resources in Nicaragua that will go a long way towards advancing our mission of sustainability and employment…Thank you so much for coloring the world!”
