Car Crash Leads to DUI Charge
A Narragansett man who thought he was in Pawtucket drives his vehicle over a traffic island in East Providence.

East Providence patrol officers found a red Hyundai straddling a traffic island near the 133 Club on Warren Avenue when they responded to a call about a car crash early last Friday morning, Dec. 21.
One road sign was sticking out from under the car; another was knocked down; so was a tree. Inside the car was a driver soon to be charged with drunk driving.
Peter W. Alberico, 23, of Narragansett, admitted to drinking and driving. He thought he was in Pawtucket, according to the police report.

The car crash occurred about 2 am. Officially, it happened at 89 Valley St. at Warren Avenue. No one was injured.
Alberico also was charged with refusing to take a chemical test to determine his blood-alcohol level and failing to maintain control of his vehicle. He failed a field sobriety test that he did take.

He was arraigned and given a date to appear in District Court.
